Continuing with my file folder photos, this is Spread #4. I adhered a library pocket on the left-hand page to insert a tag that I stamped and distressed.
The tags, on the right-hand page, were secured with staples and this is the very first time I stapled anything to my artwork - it was a little unnerving, for me, but felt it kind of fit the distressed style of this journal.
Just a note - I'm up to 491 posts on my Blog! As soon as I reach my 500th post, I'm going to celebrate it with a fun giveaway. :)
Safe and happy thoughts to all of you!
Love, Marilyn xxoo
This is a picture of the third spread in my file-folder journal. I really enjoyed using some of my Paper Whimsy images in this journal. I copied the image on my ink jet and then transferred it onto the page with gel medium. I love the distressed appearance of transfers. The gate stamp seemed appropriate to stamp over the image; it's a Hero Arts stamp and I was waiting for the right moment to use it.
I hope you're all on a good start to your weekend!

with my new sump pump!!!!!
I normally don't post anything that isn't art related but if I stretch this far enough, I could alter this someday-lol!
This is a picture of our new sump pump in our basement! We recently had our basement waterproofed with a wonderful system including this handsome pump!!!! It even comes with a life-time guarantee!
I can't tell you the relief, we feel, in knowing that our basement will no longer be flooded and we won't have to suck up water every Spring or even in the winter depending on the conditions.
This winter was brutal and we paid a high price this Spring. Enough is enough!!!!! We're getting too old for this kind of thing.
This was money well spent and we've already seen water coming out of the drain in the back yard - celebrate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So; I just had share, with you, this "handsome" new addition to our family; he's quite a "suck up" but I'll get used to it!
Have a good weekend everyone; be safe and enjoy the moments!
Thank you for hangin' in with me always!
Much love - Marilyn xxoo
Thought I'd upload my second spread from my file-folder journal. I think I'm going to work on another soon. I just am in love with the size! Not too long, ago, I purchased some new foam stamps from Donna Downey Studio and their size is perfect for these pages.
I do prep the pages with Gesso and the pages of the folder can withstand anything; another positive issue for me.
It's mid week, already, and I hope you all are having a safe and happy one. Our weather continues to inch toward Spring; I had two lovely days with Sophia - we went on lots of "wagon walks". :)
Spring thoughts for all! Love much - Marilyn xxoo
This is a picture of my first spread in the journal I made out of two file folders.
I just love the size of the pages!
There were a lot of tornadoes over the weekend in the mid west and my heart goes out to those effected. Mother Nature is spreading her wrath all over the world.
Our temps are going to reach record-breaking warmth today, for this time of year, and then we have storms predicted for later today.
May you all be safe and have a good weak ahead.
Much love....................Marilyn xxoo

I just had to take some time, this morning, to express myself in my on-going journal. I am beginning to feel more hopeful, on this day, and I think some of it has to do with our weather turning its course, here, the past couple of days. I can honestly see signs of Spring here while on my morning walks. The crocus or is it croci?? (I never get it right) are popping up and people are out raking up their lawns, our temperatures are in the 50's and this weekend will reach 60 and 70! The sun is bright, sky is blue......................at the moment - life is sweet!
It's been quite a ride, here, as of late; just lots of stuff going on. I had some family stuff which is calming down, for now, and we are also in the midst of two major construction jobs at our home.....top and bottom! The basement and the roof! These had to be done and we're already feeling the relief of the lifetime guarantee that our basement will not flood again! The crew working on the project is amazing! The roofers are also, hard at work, here, and that is a welcome sight, too. No more leaks!!!!
So - these past few days, my spirits have been lifted and I'm seeing results of things that we should have taken care of awhile ago but it's money well spent although I would rather have spent the money on art supplies - lol!!!!! But - ya gotta do whatcha gotta do - right?
I hope you all are experiencing things to be feeling hopeful about. We all go through "stuff" don't we? I'm just so glad, and I think you'll agree, that we're fortunate to have our art so we can turn to it to express ourselves when we are going through different emotions - either happy or sad, good stuff or bad.
Enjoy your weekend, ahead, and may it be a hopeful one!

PS I will be posting pictures of spreads in my file-folder journal beginning next week. (previous post)

My two favorite days of the week are Monday and Tuesdays. I get to spend these days with Sophia, who is 16 mos. old today! Can you believe it? I took this picture, of her, a couple of weeks ago while she was trying on hats! She piles all of them up on top of her head and walks around proudly. Yes; she is walking now! Yesterday I took her out to lunch and shared a grilled-cheese sandwich with apple sauce! What a delight!
I am formally "Gamma" now and love the smiles and hugs I get, from her each and every time! It is a very special bond we are building together. I wouldn't have missed this for the world! Sophia is my light!
This second picture is of a journal that I created out of a couple of manila file folders. I recently went through a technique folder I have and re-discovered this cool way of creating a journal with it's unique size. There is also a video technique of this that Donna Downey offers on her website. I saw the video and it reminded me that I had this technique tucked away in my "archives". :)
I will be posting pictures of the spreads, I created, in this journal from time-to-time.
Hope you all are having a good week. Our temps are slowly climbing and this weekend sounds like we'll be in the 60's!!!!! I've noticed, on your Blogs, while visiting, a lot of you have lovely signs of Spring. We hope to see these signs, here, very soon.
All stay well and wishing you a safe and happy weekend ahead!
