A Bit of Forgiveness

This picture isn't the greatest but remember from my last post below re: the really blurry transfer image picture? You will see it below bottom left. This image happens to be my favorite image and while it came out quite faint and blurry with the Tranz It ink technique from an ink jet print on regular copy paper, I still liked it but it needed some touching up. I decided, this morning, to fill in areas using Shiva Paint Sticks and Prisma Color pencils and it really did the trick! This "new and improved" image now looks like a mini oil or watercolor painting in person. Perhaps, when you click on the picture, here, you can see. Oh; this is just crying out to me for a class project at Art Connection - Shiva Paint Sticks! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are so many uses and no messy clean up!

Playing with Tranz It ink

I've been having fun, this morning, playing and experimenting with Tranz It ink. It's a Judi Kins product that was introduced to me/us at Art Connection's Little Fat Book Club by our very talented and creative artist Kerri Posson. (her blog is listed here) The picture on top is result of ink-jet copies onto GreatWhite Imaging & Photo Paper; they came out very clear and colorful and I didn't have to burnish; I just could lift the paper right up and the image appeared. The picture on bottom: left-blurred image is ink-jet copy onto regular text paper and it came out very faint but, in person, it's rather mysterious. I might try coloring in w/ Shiva Paint Sticks when this is fully dried. The image on right is color-copy from printing store onto regular text (printing) paper. The fabric I used for the transfers is muslin. Once these are fully dried, I will go over them with Micro Glaze which is a very waxey-type consistency and makes a wonderful sealer and brings out more color. I tried to edit my most recent post so I could include the name of my dear friend who made me the really cool card. But; I couldn't figure out how to edit the post, so I want you all to know that the artist who created that card, for me, is Kat Keniston. She's so creative and clever; I'm really happy and privileged to have her as a friend. Thank you Kat!

I just had to share this card I received from a very dear friend of mine. She knows my lack of luster (putting it mildly) for cooking and this card just made me smile and laugh. Make sure you check out the card; there's a lot going on and then the caption at the bottom: Just...don't...ask... upon opening the card, the caption inside says: "What's for dinner"! Cool, isn't it? I love it!

This is a picture of a fabric postcard that I just completed. I took Melanie's class, at Art Connection, and I'm having fun playing. I'm trying to expand my horizons and get to know the world of fabric art. Melanie's class was much fun, and she's so patient with me :) I like the small "canvas" of a fabric postcard, especially starting out into the fabric world. It allows me to practice the different stitches and become more comfortable with the needle and thread. Thankfully, thimbles were invented; it's almost like I need one for every finger! Melanie is offering an Introduction to Quilting Class, at Art Connection, and I signed up and had my first class last Tuesday evening. I chose my fabric and am eager to learn ( well; a little nervous) but Mel is a fantastic teacher and puts me instantly at ease.

This is a picture of a cabinet card I altered. It's going to be the front cover of a Deco (small handmade book). I like to pick up old cabinet cards at flea markets and garage sales and alter them. I mask out the image with Eclipse Tape then work on my background with acrylic paints, stamping, etc. , and add fun embellishments.

This is a small 4 x 4 canvas collage I did recently. I found this sweet vintage image and it led me to using beeswax and Shiva Paintsticks. I've been doing a lot of "lab" work with Shiva Paintsticks, recently, and have found a new love. They are wonderful with papers as well as exciting applications on fabric. No muss, no fuss, no clean up!! This little collage will ultimately have a hanging "thingie" on it to go through the eye screws on top. I incorporated vintage lace and the sides are done using stamped modeling paste and colored in with what else? Shiva Paintsticks! :)
